Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
This is a very good boys coat and certainly one that I will revisit again when my son grows out of the one I have just purchased. He is a tall five year old so size 10-11 is just right for him. Having bought this in the sale at pretty much close to half price it was a good buy though I don't think I'd be encouraged to pay full price for any young boys coat at close to £100 let alone this and this is one of the best I have seen. Extremely worth the sale price.
The inner tightening mechanism on a boys coat gives a bit of a feminine look so I'll not be using that as having just received it my son tried it on and everything on the coat is excellent bar this feature. So the -1star is solely for thus feature taking away from it's otherwise rugged look.

Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
Bought this parka for my son as he needed a new coat for next season and couldn't pass this one up as it was in the sale. Couldn't ask for a better coat as we are so pleased with it. Excellent made and so comfortable providing great warmth. My son loves his new coat.

Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
This is by far the best coat I've ever bought my son who loves the outdoors.
I have just purchased the newer expedition parka after 3+ years of him wearing the previous version. It really has stayed in amazing condition after most probably 100s of washes! The coat still fits him probably because it buried him a little when i bought it he currently still wears the size 4years and he's nearly 7. I have gone for the 6-7 years this time and will see how that fits. Looking forward to receiving it. Will only ever buy his coats from Landsend now after how impressed we are with the quality.

Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
I just had to review the Lands End Parka. I bought one for my son (before the fur collar was added) 3years ago now and he's still wearing it and it still fits him. I bought a medium size 5/6 at the time he was 5 and the bigger 6/7 dwarfed him but now hes just about to turn 9 and it still fits and covers down over bum. My so is tall and slim so I suppose that helps with the duration we've owned the same size.
Hes predominantly worn it on a daily basis as a school coat (we have Navy Colourway) and then in height of winter at weekends too.
Its been washed many times and only now this year 3yrs on and I thinking about getting another as hes scuffed one of the cuffs.
Its lovely and warm and everyone always comments how nice a coat it is (as its warm and waterproof) my son loves the cuffs as they have cutout fingers so its like a glove which he thinks is great (although in winter he wears gloves too)
I wouldnt hesitate to buy this coat again, ignore the price - its SO worth the cost. My only concern with "new model" is whats going to happen to that fur over time?

Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
I don't know where to begin. Honestly, hand on heart, this is the most beautiful, warm coat I have ever seen for a boy. It's so well made, the materials are amazing. It's super soft and cosy and unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. My son is 5 and I bought him age 6-7 in order that he might get two winters out of it, which he definitely will. My three older children have had Lands End coats in the past which I was delighted with, but this one beats them. I didn't think that was even possible. Do not hesitate in buying this. Yes, it's more expensive than your average childrens coat, but my goodness you can absolutely see what you're paying for. Just remember to write your child's name inside it in case it goes walkies!!!!

Comments about Boys' Expedition Parka:
I recently purchased this coat for my oldest son (9 years old) for an upcoming trip to Mont Tremblant in Canada (aka COLD), but it has come in handy for the recent cold snap we've had here in the South of England. I have owned a couple of Lands End coats myself and knew how warm they are. This coat is beautiful. I had high hopes when I ordered it, but it's even better in real life. I ordered the navy and orange colour and it is gorgeous. The Sherpa lining on the hood and upper body is the softest I have ever come across, and you can feel how warm the coat is just by touching it. My son loves it! So much so, that I then had to order another for my youngest son (I did hope I would be able to use another coat he had got, but on feeling the difference in quality we decided he had to have the guaranteed warmth this coat would give him) in the brighter blue which is a lovely colour and not as luminous as it appears in the pictures. Both boys have worn them over the weekend when temperatures dropped below zero with just a long sleeved t-shirt on underneath and were saying how hot they were. Simply the best coats I have ever come across for my boys. Quite jealous actually - would love the same for myself, but the women's version doesn't have the same Sherpa lining in the body. The coat is quite expensive for a child's coat, but does have the ability to "grow" the sleeves so will easily do 2 consecutive winters, but is well worth the money for the quality and warmth they offer. If in doubt, buy it!

My son loves his coat. I bought him the previous version of this coat and it was very durable and warm. Everyone comments on this coat and how warm it is. Lots of pockets very warm and looks good. Perfect for cold months and keeps my son warm even in bitter cold.

Q:
Bought two of these coats for my kids. These coats were wonderful and held up in the rain and snow all last fall and winter. Then I machine washed them at 30C and dried them partly in the dryer then let them finish drying on a drying rack. We had our first downpour of the fall and both kids were wet - the water had seeped through the coat - on both coats - and the kids were especially wet at the armpits. What in the world did I do wrong? These coats are too expensive and it seems like they should be durable enough to go through a washing machine.Asked on 11/11/2016 by Laura from Nederland1 answer
A:
Thank you for your enquiry.
I am sorry that they are no longer waterproof after washing, we recommend a cool wash and tumble dry on low with laundry or tennis balls.
Under our guarantee you can return both coats to us for either an exchange or a refund.
Please phone us on 0800 220 106 if you would like any further assistance.
