Comments about Women's Down Chalet Long Coat:
After an extensive search for a below-the-knee coat for mum that didn't need a second mortgage I ordered one. Then I read the Q&A regarding sizing (they read like they are huge) and being too late to change it I also ordered a size down. Mum is a good size 18 and the 16-18 fits fine, if very slightly snug. She is 5ft 4" and it finishes a good few inches below the knee. However I liked it so much I kept the other even though it's it is a little too big. I'm 5ft 11" and it finishes just below the knee - a real treat for me. The only thing I would change is the quilting pattern, ie a flattering chevron instead of blocky squares perhaps. However it is lovely and warm in near zero temp, with soft warm collar & cuffs. Also like the roomy, removable hood and the 2-way zip. Can also commend customer services who called me when there was a prob with delivery, and promptly sorted it out.

This coat has been invaluable in this weather suddenly turning cold again. I'm very warm and snug standing in the playground on duty. Thanks again for keeping me warm. Does come up very long as I'm only 5"4 ish, but would buy again.

Comments about Women's Down Chalet Long Coat:
Just bought my second coat in two weeks.....I loved the coat so much. I bought the brown one first, and now the blackberry. What else can I say to add to my first comment ? The blackberry is just as lush.
I'm 5'3'' and size 10. The small size regular is perfect.
Again, I need to nip in the half belt 1/2 an inch, but that is a minor hiccup. The zip is fine if instructions are followed. Thanks again Lands End. Once more, the service and delivery were brilliant.

I'M A 'SENIOR', BUT TRENDY, AND MY COAT IS COVETED BY MY DAUGHTER AND GRAND DAUGHTER, SO I'LL HAVE TO WATCH MY CLOST ! AS AN EX MODEL, I LOVE FASHIONABLE CLOTHES. WELL DONE 'LANDS END'. Comments about Women's Down Chalet Long Coat:
On those chilly autumn days how wonderful to have something that keeps you snug and dry. I love the fitted waist; most unusual in this type of coat.
Wonderfully light and a fantastic colour to blend nicely with black, blue and even brown. Exactly the winter coat I have been searching for, for years. Thank you Lands End.

Comments about Women's Down Chalet Long Coat:
Really comfy and was ideal in the recent bout of snow we had. Also a lovely colour - quite unusual and a nice change from black without being too bright. It was knee-length on me and I'm 5 ft 7 and a half. Recommended.

Comments about Women's Down Chalet Long Coat:
Coat is bulkier than I thought it would be but I think that is normal and the bulk will settle down a bit. Lovely and toasty warm and feels really cosy with fleece inside collar and pockets.
The main thing that I would change about this coat is the hood is very big and I end up having to roll it back at the top which is one of the main reasons I wanted a new coat as my previous coat had an overly large hood too.
Still kept it though as so nice in every other way.

Q:
I know that some down coats have to be tumble dried when they have got wet or been washed. This would be a problem for me as I don't have a tumble dryer. Can this coat be dried naturally without damaging the down?Asked on 2/24/2013 by 0161 Della from Manchester2 answers
A:
Third time I washed my chalet coat the down filling turned to small clumps, meaning no warmth. Without a tumble drier, I had followed the advice to shake it while it dried naturally. Twice I was delighted with the result, but now the coat is wrecked.A:
The women's down chalet long coat can be dried naturally, however we recommend shaking the garment vigorously, from time to time as it dries. This is to ensure that the down is broken up and does not form into clumps.Answered on 2/25/2013 by Sally from Lands' End
Q:
I am a size 16.l Will Large 16-18 be the best size? Also, I am 5'10". Will it be long enough for me please?Asked on 1/24/2013 by Phyl from West London1 answer
A:
Size large is recommended for a 40-42" chest, and the garment actually measures 48 1/2" to allow for layers underneath. The length of the large is 44 1/4".Answered on 1/25/2013 by Sarah from Lands' End
Q:
I have a bit of a tummy and wondering if the fitted style and belt would make me look slightly pregnant?!!!Asked on 1/22/2013 by marifech1 answer

This style does not come with a belt which may be more suitable for you.Answered on 1/23/2013 by Stephanie from Lands' End
Q:
i am a size 10-12 but am unsure what size to get in this coat. some reviews say it is roomy. i tend to buy a large size in say Zara down coats as they come up small and i like to wear jumpers underneath.
can you advise how roomy it is, also i am 5'10 and want a coat that comes to my knees or lower. what is the length of the smaller sizeAsked on 1/17/2013 by susan1 answer
A:
We do advise that our clothing is on the generous side and the small (UK10/12) measures 42h inches around the chest. The length of this size is 43 inches. If you feel this is not long enough for you, we do offer a longer version, the chalet maxi coat, style 417834, which measures 48 inches in length.Answered on 1/17/2013 by Claire from Lands' End
Q:
Hi, happy to find this site, now have to make the decision: petite down commuter coat or chalet long coat.Help! visit scotland often but I live in Holland, use bike to work and its cold, windy and often wet here! but i love idea of long, duvet like coat. My dilemna is which is more suitable? I am petite,size8-10 and can easily be swamped in large coats but comfort and warmth is key. It looks like the commuter is more waterproof/resistant, would that be correct? but it also looks more baggy than the chalet, any help i would really appreciate as i need this coat now! thankyou,Louise.Asked on 1/12/2013 by weeziness from Amsterdam1 answer
A:
We would recommend the Down Commuter Long Coat, as it is actually waterproof, whereas the Chalet Long Coat is only water resistant. Both coats are equally as warm as they are both in our Warmest rating with a 600 down fill.Answered on 1/14/2013 by Daniel from Lands' End
Q:
I am not sure what size to get in this long chalet coat. I like things to fit fairly snugly. I am 4 ft 11 ins and my measurements are - bust 35 ins hips 39 ins. I sometimes get uk 8 or 10. I'm worried that if I get the 8 ,it wont fit my hips, but if I get small- 10/12 it will be too loose. Can you tell me what the hips measure on the Small and extra small? Thanks VanessaAsked on 12/24/2012 by Vanessa from Surrey, England uk1 answer
A:
The Hip measurements for this style are approximately
Extra Small – 42 inches
Small – 44 inchesAnswered on 12/27/2012 by Stephanie from Lands' End
Q:
Hi,
I was given this coat as a present, wore it for the first time today.....and it leaks! It is amazingly warm, however I had wet shoulders after an outing in the rain. According to your blurb the coat is water repellent, is this different from water proof? Should I expect it to let in water after 10-15 mins. Do you have tolerances? Loathed to return it as it is so warm, could it be waterproofed with say Nikwax, or is that something you wouldn't recommend.
Any information would be great, otherwise I may just return it to Debenhams where it was purchased from and buy a more reputable make.
Look forward to hearing from you
Sandra DavidsonAsked on 12/22/2012 by Drenched of Livingston from Scotland1 answer
A:
This coat is only water-repellent as such it would only hold up to a certain amount of rain. We do not recommend reproofing these coats as we have found it tends to dampen the feathers and damages the loft. Also we advise against washing the coat with any fabric conditioners as they damage the water-repellent coating. If you feel that the coat has not performed as expected you are welcome to return it to us for a full refund or exchange.Answered on 12/24/2012 by Daniel from Lands' End
