    Comments about Men's Squall Parka:

Just ordered this jacket for my ( fussy ) husband along with the down jacket in the hope at least one of them would tick all his boxes , amazingly BOTH have and at such a bargain price in the sale he now has 2 coats for the price of 1 ! I always go to Lands End first for coats and jackets for us both as they are excellent for quality and fit .

    Comments about Men's Squall Parka:

Had these jackets before [which were excellent]this weeks is now my 3rd. Been out in cold gale force rain/winds on the seafront today. I can confirm the lighter weight is still warm and water wind proof.
But the XL is much tighter fit than prev jacket so my 46in chest only room for t shirt underneath, but the big disappointment is the jacket is now car coat length which means any tall people will get a draught up their back in strong winds and the thighs will get wet and cold. Seems more suited as a commuter car coat with the short length than for being practical outdoors, inside pockets reduced to just one small one, outer pockets do not seem so deep. Despite these changes it is still a good jacket, if only they would go back to proper sizes and lengths please.

    Comments about Men's Squall Parka:

I bought a squall parka in 2012 when it was on half price, the 2012 squall has the nylon outer shell backed with polyester wadding and then the 300gsm fleece lining. a very warm and waterproof coat.
The squall I have just bought is an inch shorter.
still has the nylon outer shell but NO polyester wadding just the 300gsm fleece and is NOT as warm so I won`t be wearing it in mid winter unlike the 2012 squall coat which is supposed to be warm down to minus20 and as I wear the coat for walking my dog on the shore and sand hils it needs to be warm.
although for half price it is a good buy and both coats are well made

    Evolving and improving Squall Parka

      Comments about Men's Squall Parka:

This is my 4th Squall parka over many years The first wore out after continual commuting and building site work. My second, Goretex lined, was my favourite, but got paint all over it recently, so had to be binned. I need a coat for my allotment and cutting wood, so my 3rd, not waterproof, has been relegated to that after many years use. So I had an excuse to buy my 4th - which is warm and snuggly, says it's waterproof, has a better hood, furry hand warmers with zips so I can't lose things if I use them as pockets. A definite evolution to a great coat. Except, yes there is an except, the opening to the inner zipped pocket is a bit too small. And the outer zipped pocket has gone, which was brilliant for keeping a wallet safe without opening your coat up, and its position not obvious. The hand warmer pockets don't compensate for that. Maybe the next one in 5 years or so, will be waterproof but breathable and have that pocket back.

Very happy with this item. little bit baggy in the body. Could do with a internal draw cord to bring it in a bit. Fits over a suit or can be worn alone. Nice and warm. Not to bulky. Smart or casual. Good all-rounder.

This parka feels much heavier than the Classic Squall that I would normally buy and can become a bit uncomfortable when entering less cold environments.
Out in the elements it is worth every penny, snug and dry. The generous hood keeps the weather off your face.

Bought one recently from Land's end and found that the (main)zip appears to be assembled/sewn in opposite to every coat I possess! this I find very awkward, is this how they are made? I will have to return this coat regretfully--seems like a great product! Lets hope this was a one off.

Is this Product made with a left hand main zip? The one I ordered came with the zip fitted the opposite way to every coat I possess! If this is how they are made then I will definitely not be ordering another!! I must add that I like Lands' end Products but I will be returning this one. Not up to Land's end usually high standards.
