Ordered in black smooth (and very soft/flexible) leather on a half-price sale offer. It took two tries to get the size right - but the second pair appear perfect for my needs (i.e. a pair of lightweight, easy to pack shoes which would be comfortable for dressing up a bit, but not having to walk far - say for a party or on a cruise). Having previously bought a pair of flexible ballet-style shoes elsewhere (and read the Lands End reviews) I was not expecting much support from the style - they are not for walking any long distance. However I also guessed that there could be issues with the shoes being too loose or floppy. I wanted them 'for nice' when dressing up a bit for a special 'do' (I might even slip them on in the car, having worn more serviceable footwear beforehand). Basically, I expected some neat but comfortable shoes (like a pair of slippers) for indoor use. These shoes fit the bill. My feet are small and I generally take either a size 4 or 4H UK (US 6 or 6H). In Lands End's shoes over the years, I usually take a size 4H (UK) 6H (US). Note: my foot is not narrow, and is best in styles with a rounded toe box - so (depending on the style) may also require a wide fitting. I ordered over the phone, and having discussed the website's advice to 'size up' I ordered a US size 7 in the wide fitting - although not convinced that the flexible ballet style shoe wouldn't be too loose/floppy in this size. Sure enough: the black smooth leather is ultra-soft and flexible, and the US size 7 (wide fitting) was too long and loose on my feet. I returned them and exchanged for a 6H wide fitting - which (given the very soft and flexible leather) fits me comfortably - but only just. Anyone who normally falls between two shoe sizes probably can't assume that they will need to size up a half size as advised on the website (this is true of the black leather - I can't advise for the other colourways). Worth persevering - at half price (EXPENSIVE at full price).
