Furry warm in the cold!
When winter comes calling, here's the coat to face it in! The flattering seams and lightweight down insulation make it easy and flattering to wear, but never fear, it'll still keep you lovely and warm even on colder winter days. And at mid-thigh-length, it covers you in all the right places! The detachable hood is generously-sized and comes with an elegant thick faux fur trim, adding a touch of wintry style. The water-resistant shell means this coat isn't afraid of showers - and the down itself is given a special treatment called HyperDRY™. This means it stays lofty and keeps you warm, even if it gets wet. Neat extra touches include the handy two-way zip for ease of movement and inset stretchy storm cuffs to keep out the cold and snow. Come on winter - we're ready 'fur' you!
Does this have poppers as well as a zip?

Wendy

The hooded down Coat has a two-way zip with a storm flap over with a popper fastening.

what is your returns policy if it does't fit?

Migs

Thank you for your enquiry You will find our Returns Policy written out in full on our Website, but basically you are welcome to return it for a refund or an exchange.

Jane

I am vegan is your down ethically sourced or do you offer synthetic down?

Lesley

Thank you for your query. We are fully committed to to having a responsible, trustworthy, and ethical supply chain that includes the use of 100% Responsible down Standard (RDS) certified down, the highest quality responsibly sourced down available. Lands' End does not use, purchase, or source live plucked down, which is a barbaric practice that is completely out of line with our values. Another suitable option may be to look at our new Thermoplume coats as they are synthetic but mimic natural down.

Angelina

I have washed an older version of this in machine at 20 degrees, but dried in warm room rather than in tumble drier. The down has clumped together in places so no longer is spread evenly throughout the coat. If I wash it again and then tumble dry it, will the down go back to normal ? Thanks

Bindy

Thank you for your query. You do need a tumble drier to plump the down up else the feathers clump together as you have discovered! If you wash it again or soak it through and put it in a drier with either dryer balls or clean tennis balls, you should be able to bring it back to life. It's best to shake the coat at regular intervals whilst drying to ensure the feathers are evenly distributed and it's recommended to dry for longer than needed. Good luck but if you need further help, let us know.

In answer to a previous question you advise that the sleeve length of this garment is approx 33 inches. That seems rTher long. Is this measurement correct? Please confirm the correct sleeve measurement

Doone

Thank you for your enquiry The sleeve length is measured from the centre back and then down the sleeve to the cuff.

Jane

Is the down in the down coats goose down or duck down ?

Pen

Thank you for your enquiry. This particular coat is filled with Duck Down. Each Down Coat we sell has a hangtag label which has a Barcode so that our customers can track where the Down in their particular coat is sourced from and how.

Jane

Is the down filling ethically sourced?

Rosie

Thank you for your enquiry Yes it is all ethically sourced as a by product of the meat trade. Each item is labelled so that you can track where the down was sourced.

Jane

A PERFECT COAT

This coat is the right length, giving more protection than a jacket but not too long as to be cumbersome. The colour Sienna Brown is lovely, a much darker colour than it looks on my pc and I'm well pleased about that. It has a smart look because of going in a bit at the waist and because of the flap over the zip (which is a sturdy plastic one much easier to use than the usual LE metal ones) The hood draws up so that it doesn't cover your face, but the coat looks so much smarter without it I think I'l leave it off and wear a hat if necessary, except in really bitter weather. I ignored a reviewers advice to size up as I'm a 16 and 16-18 usually fits well, but I had to exchange it for a bigger size which was done easily and quickly on the phone. It's going to be a firm favourite so Im pleased it looks to be of LE's usual high quality so it will hopefully last a long time.

As near perfect as it gets.

I bought this coat in black for an Arctic cruise last week and it was perfect. I deliberately got a generous size to fit over chunky jumpers or, in extreme conditions, on top of my short sports-type down jacket, but it's a nice shape and looks equally good over more formal thinner layers if you're out in the evening. On deck in an Arctic blizzard with the thermometer reading -10C and a major wind chill factor on top, I was so cosy with this on top of my old down jacket, and most of the time sightseeing on land I was fine with just this coat worn on top of a thermal vest and two or three of layers of merino wool. I love the length (at 5'1" it falls below mid-thigh) and the double cuffs (you can layer your glove wrists in between them) and the roomy adjustable detachable hood. I like the matte black fabric and the short shiny black fur, it's infinitely nicer than most rather manky-looking fur trimmings. The fur is fine if it gets a bit wet, btw, and as for somebody complaining the coat isn't waterproof, well if you want a waterproof coat you buy a mac, not a down jacket. It gets 99% from me, unheard-of, and if only the pocket zip pulls were big enough to operate with gloves on (a fairly basic need for a cold-weather coat!) and the inner pocket was a tad bigger (for passport and wallet) I'd give it 100%. One gripe: I wear hearing aids and the satin lining in the hood is VERY NOISY (and a merino beanie underneath didn't help at all) and I do wish the hood was lined with the same nice fine warm fleece as the pockets. Maybe next season, designers?

Makes my clothes underneath ride up

3

I love the look of this coat, lovely and warm, I like the toggle on the hood feature. Only problem is that it makes my clothes underneath ride up. I tried different material clothes but it does it to all. Lands End we're very helpful and sent me another one.. unfortunately it does the same.

I bought this to replace a coat bought from Lands End several years ago and I was surprised at the differences in quality. For example: the fur cannot be unzipped from the hood, meaning you can never wash it; the inside pocket is fastened with a popper (less secure); the cuffs are finished with a cheap polyester (my old coat was finished with thick fleece cuffs) ; the zip is a cheap plastic and keeps getting stuck. Also my old coat had tabs in the back which you could adjust when you wanted a more fitted or looser look. I'm disappointed with this purchase .

I bought this in the sale and managed to get a good discount. The hood is too big and flops over your face, if you were able to remove the fur trim it would be perfect. Three very deep pockets fastened with zips and a popper.

Very flattering coat with slim lines, yet beautifully warm. I have tested it on a very cold day here on the Sussex coast at 1 degree Celsius (and windy!) and I was warm and cosy with my normal clothes underneath. I bought the grey and it goes with everything. The hood covers my head, and keeps my ears warm too. without covering my face like some hoods. The zipped pockets are useful and big enough for my phone, as is the internal pocket. Fantastic value in the sale!
