Warmth to go
Our lightweight packable down women's parka ends the myth of 'warmth equals weight'! Natural down insulation gives maximum warming power with minimal weight. The higher the fill (in this case a whopping 700-fill power) the greater the insulation, so we can use less, keeping a fabulous slim silhouette. And now, thanks to a brand new HyperDRY™ treatment, the down is water-repellant which means that even if it gets wet, it still insulates just as well as if it was dry. It's highly compactible too. Fold it into the inside pocket and voila - warmth to go.
My packable water repellent coat is now letting in the rain. Is there a way I can re-apply a waterproof coating? What do you suggest to use it in the rain?

LW

We do not stock a reproofing spray but the Blacks reproofing spray or Cotswold Outdoor Leisure spray may help with this.

Hello My coat has just arrived and so far I am pleased with it. I want to take it on an autumn holiday so it seems perfect. However I can't work out how to pack it for easy carrying. Can you please give specific instructions on how to pack it in to the right hand pocket? Thank you

Maureen

There is no specific way to fold this item into the pocket. The best way is just to start inserting surrounding material into the pocket until it is all packed.

christine

How do I fold coat so it fits into pocket?

SJ

Thank you for your enquiry. Please be advised that the garment packs into the right inner pocket and the instructions are below. *PACKABLE INTO RIGHT INNER POCKET, WHEN PACKED POCKET HAS DRAWSTRING CLOSURE

Angelina

Hello I asked this question too and the answer was less than helpful. I then found this https://youtu.be/xkdSgIZr5zY I hope it helps

Maureen

Could you tell me please the measurement across the hip on the 10 to 12 size.

Jan

Thank you for your enquiry. The low hip measurement on the size small is 43" and the sweep is 46".

Jane

Could you please tell me the length of the 10-12 petite coat? Many thanks clare

Clare

The length of this parka in the petite fit is 29½ inches for the Small (UK 10-12/US 6-8) and 30⅛ inches for the Medium (UK 14-16/US 10-12).

Kate

I want to buy this in black in PETITE size 16-18 but need to know that there is adequate room for my upper arms. With a sweater on today the size is 16.5 inches. Will a petite size be OK or would a regular be any better, and will either cope?

Babydoc

Upper Arm measurement is 17.5" this is measured 1" below armpit in large petite

Jane

I also wanted to know how warm this coat is as people have said that it is not warm enough for cold winter weather?

Claire

It is described as:- •TEMPERATURE RATING: WARMEST: Designed to take on the worst of the winter weather when worn with a typical winter wardrobe (tested down to -29°C)

Angelina

Sorry I also mean't to ask about the warmth of the coat? Some people are saying that it is not that warm? If you could clardy this also. Thank you

Jane

I have just received this coat and I see that some people are saying that the Hyperdry does not work 100% and coat still gets wet? Can you clarify this please.

Claire

This Parka is described as water repellant it is not water proof

Jane

want to order this in slate but not available in petite size 10-12. are you expecting any more? jaki

Mrs Macciato

We are currently not expecting any more stock of this item, however, I suggest you keep checking the website. Any returns we receive will be uploaded and the item will become available again.

I bought this for an autumn holiday in the Baltic. It was reasonably warm (on top of several layers of clothes) in a windy 10C but I would certainly doubt it would be warm to -29C. I also wore it in steady, not torrential rain and had a wet shoulder when I took off the coat. The coat dried quickly but that isn't much help when the clothes underneath are wet! My size assessment relates to a small Petite size.

Lovely coat, shame about the size

I've already got one of these in a pale colour so thought I'd get a darker one for practicality as it was in the sale. When I opened it, it looked a bit small. When I put it on top of the other one I could see about 3cm on either side of the original!! Both had identical size labels. I could just about zip this one up over a t-shirt so it had to go back. It was nominally Large but even the first one I bought is much smaller than the Medium jackets I've had for years. Very disappointed as sale price made it a real bargain as these are much nicer than the competition.

Pleasing Parka

I love this parka - it's so light and comfortable, and packable too - so easy to pop it into your tote or backpack 'just in case'. As with other LE items I bought the next size up to accommodate my broad shoulders and the fit is just right - it's got me looking forward to winter so I can try it out! I'll be back to increase the star rating to 5 if it performs well.

Super light and very soft to the touch

Bought this as I wanted something warm but light for use when travelling and this fits the bill perfectly. I am a short 16 so bought Large petite. Length wise its fine but I don't think a bulky sweater would fit underneath with comfort. I got it in the sale so am happy with the price I paid but at full price I think it would be rather expensive.

Looks Good

To soon to say how warm or useful this jacket will be. It is a lovely colour and at this time of year fits perfectly, however I'm not sure I will be able to get winter clothes comfortably under it. I am aiming to loose some weight so hopefully this will resolve that issue. The price in the sale is excellent, so I will not be returning this item.

Flattering

This is the fourth down jacket/coat I have ever bought, still using 2 so I have comparisons. First impressions were that it IS awfully thin...thinner than I had imagined by the images online, but saying that though, I could get possibly a longer season out of it, and it is more flattering than the particular one I was replacing (18 years old) which was like wearing a duvet. Whether it is warmer, we shall see. Primarily bought for dog walking on the beach, but as I chose it in black, without the removable hood, it could be worn for casual winter evenings out. The fit is absolutely perfect for me, I was nervous of ordering petite as so have long arms, but no problems.

Very attractive & practicle

Have not worn yet but like the fit and quality of this coat. As other people have commented the zip can be a bit fiddly. But often zips on coats can be difficult to do up.

Love this coat!

Worn this coat for the first time today - love it! Absolutely great fit and not bulky at all. Length about mid thigh which is good. Fabric feels really soft and comfortable. Overall it looks and feels great - and extremely lightweight. Looks modern and appealing. If you're buying this for the deep mid winter you'll need extra sweaters underneath as it doesn't feel like it'll be overly warm without. However, it's a great fit (not tight) and there's certainly room for sweaters. I haven't yet tested it's wind and showerproof qualities. Landsend if you want to improve this coat it needs to be warmer - but not bulky - there's your challenge...............

Not Quite Right

I bought a down parka to allow me to do my Nordic Walking on the coldest days. This jacket simply wasn't warm enough. I have a polar quilt parka from Land's End which is warmer. I liked the green colour which is better than it looks onscreen but I didn't really care for the sheen. If you are looking for a pretty lightweight jacket then this could work for you. I returned this one.

Women's Lightweight Packable HyperDRY Down Parka

Have only worn it once to date, it felt light and cosy. I bought the teal colour, which looked fab in the daylight I tested it on a walk with just a sleeveless top and trousers underneath and boots. It was extremely light and comfortable. Love that the zip can be undone at the base, which enables you to sit more comfortably. Will have to see if it is shower proof.
