I am currently a size 14 and would normally buy Lands End medium. According to the size guide, I am a US size 10 exactly. I entered my measurements into the True Fit calculator and was also recommended a US 10 (UK 14) but, having read previous reviews about a person usually a UK 12 needing the US 12 (our size 14/16) and about the pockets gaping, I also went with the 14/16. It fits comfortably around my shoulders, without being too baggy or too snug, and it drapes down over my hips with no pocket gape. I suspect the True Fit score was fairly accurate and the size 14 (US 10) would have fitted, but much more snugly, perhaps causing the pockets to gape open (and perhaps showing more of my tum!), and as I don't like tight-fitting tops or dresses, I am glad I went with the 14/16 as it does hide any bulges! I would say if you like a snug fit, then select your usual UK size but, if you want a more relaxed fit, then go one size up. The fabric is not what I expected. I thought it looked like a textured material, but it is just a smooth jersey. That said, it is a heavy-weight fabric and the whole item feels well made and of good quality. I feel I could wear it with boots and tights to work or for evenings with friends.
