All our Squall® coats and jackets are famous for offering the ultimate protection in wet and windy weather. Updates to this new improved version of our heritage women's Squall coat include a fixed adjustable hood, zip-up handwarmer chest pockets and top/side entry rip-grip patch pockets for easy access. The cosy lining is nice and fleecy up top and quilted down below. It's also packed with clever adjustability - including rip-grip adjuster and bungee tighteners in the classic Squall hood, rip-grip cuffs and an inner bungee drawcord to cinch you in at the waist if you want it. Finally, there are the thoughtful touches - a handy in-pocket clip to keep your keys safe and soft tricot fleece pocket linings to keep hands cosy and warm. You'll turn to this coat time and time again whenever the weather turns nasty.

Does this coat have a double ended zip? Essential for dog walking/driving etc. Please let me know. Thanks

No, it does not have a two way zip.

Does this coat hood fold away into the collar? Does the hood have a small peak or brim to shield against rain?

Thank you for your enquiry. The hood is attached and does not fold away into the collar. The hood does not have a brim or peak.

What is the difference between this and the model that is £20 more....I can,t see any apart from name.

Thank you for your enquiry. The other Squall Coat has more insulation, so is a warmer coat.

Does this coat require tumble drying after washing or can it be dried on the line?

Thank you for your enquiry. This can either be line dried or tumble dried on low.

I have a petite squall jacket from last year in a size small (10-12). I would usually buy a 14. Would you recommend buying the small or the medium in this years squall coat?

The small (UK 10-12) measures 43" round the chest, and the medium (UK 14-16) measures 45.5" round the chest.

What does 300 fleece lining mean

This explains the weight of the fleece in grams per square metre and 300 is classed as a heavy weight for extra warmth.

What length (back) of this coat in size LTall

Thank you for your enquiry. The length of the large in Tall is 35 ins.

Not as good as previous Squall coats

I have had several Squall coats over the years. This is the worst. Zips on the chest - most unflattering. The zip stopped 6" above the hem. The zip is not two way, except that the one on my coat decided that it was and undid itself from the bottom. I could not sort it out and in the end had to wriggle out of the coat. I sent the coat back. Come on Lands' End, you can do better than this and have done so in the past.

Great coat for walking

I use it for walking in all weathers. I find it comfortable and light. Only purchased recently and it has kept me really warm and dry in wind and snow. Pockets ideal for the items I need to carry.

Happy customer

Perfect for icy weather

Lovely warm coat big enough to get a thick jumer under, the hood is also well fitting and warm, it is perfect in this snowy weather. My only negative comment would be the zip pockets at the bust line, I can't imagine anyone using them.

Lovely practical coat

Love this coat snuggley and warm the only disappointment was the zip. On the ' ask a question ' Jane from Landsend said it had a two way zip so I was sorry to see it didn't when it arrived however I decided to keep it as everything else is as described. I don't know why Landsend don't put two way zips on all their casual coats as they are so much more practical

The velcro is a bind - in more ways than one!

The jacket is comfortable and very warm. I only have one criticism. Velcro. As well as a perfectly adequate zip, velcro fasteners have been added for extra insulation. And what on earth is the necessity for velcro to close the deep pockets? If you happen to wear woolen gloves while wearing the jacket they get stuck on the velcro every time you need a tissue! Likewise, when removing the jacket my jumper got stuck on the velcro fasteners in the front. In frustration I have just unpicked this unwanted extra and can now wear my jacket without becoming glued to it.

Practical coat

I wanted this coat for dog and country walking and it fits the bill. I wouldn't wear it anywhere else.

Odd update

I have owned a number of squall parkas over the years. This one feels huge, but I measured it against my last one and it is exactly the same size, so the difference is in the material and insulation, which both feel very stiff. The hood is superb - at last no fleece to muss up my hair and a peak to stop my front hair getting wet. I like top pockets. I use them for keys, credit cards and anything small which I don't want to lose. There are two things I really disliked - as a driver I would prefer a two-way zip, and I think the choice of colours is awful, three too loud and one dismal. One word of warning. These coats repay line-drying. I have just trashed the waterproofing on my old one in my tumble-dryer.

Very good and beautiful product.

Good product and very warm.

I am very pleased with my new coat!

Early days, but new coat had a brief "field test" in sleet and cold winds a few days after receipt. Very cozy and waterproof in time out (c. 1 hour). - Which is what I bought it for. Fit is fine, though sleeves are indeed a bit too long, and cuffs too wide to make full use of the velcro fastenings. Chest pockets are not brightest of design features for female market, but not a problem- just won't get a lot of use.

Damp without it.

Sending back

Poor replacement for the original design. Bust level 'pockets' ridiculous and impractical (original had waist level zip pockets which were very useful) Also not as good quality. Land's End you're slipping bring back the original which was ideal for walking and winter days. Have bought squall clothing for years now going to an alternative brand
