Two classic coats - 3-in-1 versatility
We love the ultimate versatility of 3-in-1 coats, and this one offers all that - but in two immediately recognisable classic coat styles that are still bang on trend many decades after they were first launched. There's the classic 'mod' style outer parka of course, and neatly zipped inside is the quilted liner with its distinctive bomber jacket vibe. Buy this 3-in-1 combination and you literally get 3 great coat options in one.

OPTION 1: If it's damp and windy but not too cold, the outer parka makes a stylish coat on its own.
OPTION 2: If it's dry but chilly, the quilted liner is a proper long-sleeved insulated jacket in its own right, with its softest fleece lining, bold quilting and classic bomber-style rib knit collar and cuffs.
OPTION 3: And when the weather turns much colder, simply zip the quilted liner into the outer shell, and you and your coat will be ready for anything. 'Mod' style scooter not included!
Does the outer coat have its own lining? If yes, what material?

Thank you for your enquiry. The Zip-in/zip-out quilted liner is the liner for the coat.

Jane

can the outer coat be washed and how much does it weigh ?

Maddy

Thank you for your enquiry. The size medium weighs 2068 grams, and this coat is machine washable.

What is the difference between water proof and water repellent

Tracy

Thank you for your enquiry. Water proof is actually waterproof with taped seams and should not let any water through at all. Water repellant if in heavy rain for a length of time will eventually let water through. In a light shower it should keep you dry.

Jane

Does the hood have adjustable drawstrings?

SueL

The hood does not have any drawstrings

Tom

How waterproof is water repellent. Can I wear it in a storm?

su

The parka is not waterproof but the outer shell has a water repellent finish to withstand light rain.

Great idea, not so great coat

I can only echo the other reviewers' disappointment in this coat. My first problem was that I found the zip extremely difficult to do up, but once I did get it tied I found it incredibly heavy, and as the top of the coat is tighter than I would have expected (I ordered my normal S coat size) I found that arm movement was quite restricted. The hood weighs a ton and it would have been better if it was removable. The inside jacket is a nice shape and fitted well and zipped up far more easily than the main coat. I had to return it and due to the weight it cost far more than normal to post. I really hope Lands End redesign this as it's a great idea, but the outer coat just doesn't work. And please put on Squall quality zips, rather than the metal one it has at present,

Disappointed

When my coat arrived no reviews had been written, However, I thought I would write this after reading others. When my coat arrived I really liked it..I thought it was warm albeit heavy but I could put up with that and I like clothes bigger so that I can wear layers underneath so I kept it..wore it out (fortunately only to the shops and not anywhere I would have had to take it off) as my tunic rode up all the way under my armpits!! and as the other reviewer said, the sleeves of the tunic ended up around my shoulders!! I thought it what I was wearing underneath so I tried it again on a dog walk with a different top..same thing happened. Not good if you go out anywhere and don't realise and take your coat off in a public place!! It went back! I thought it was just me.

Really disappointed - avoid!

What I wanted was a really warm waterproof coat for dog walking. This coat is a nice blue colour, but it has so many flaws, I'm returning it. The extremely heavy fur lining catches on clothes so that tops ride up, sleeve cuffs get pushed up your arms. Large buttons - NOT a good idea as freezing cold fingers cannot do them up. The front placket must be buttoned all the way to top with scarf outside the hood to work - bulky! Did I mention how heavy the coat is?? The zip on the hood - very BAD idea. If you need to zip it up after you go out - the zip gets caught in your hair. Then there are no drawstrings on the hood so the wind blows it right off. Useless! The coat design is extremely unflattering, bulging over the bum due to the gathered waist with a useless tail flap with ties that get caught on things. This coat is so heavy I feel exhausted after a short walk wearing it. I've had many good coats from Lands End but this was not one of them.

Good idea, poor execution

I loved the idea of a cotton parka with an unzippable lining - the colours look good and the hood is rather unusual, with its zip through and separate feature. Bought the navy one in size L as I have a squall parka in L and a squall jacket in M, which fit well. Unfortunately, the fit on this one is rather different - small in the shoulders and arms and quite wide in the hips, not comfortable at all. The hood is luxurious but heavy and once you're only wearing the cotton parka, which does not have its own lining, it looks a bit too much like wearing a winter coat in spring, even with the hood on your shoulders. Unfortunately, the hood is NOT removable nor adjustable, so it fell over my eyes in "winter" mode. There is an unzippable polyester jacket inside, which seems well made but again, makes the coat quite snug, not sure why LE have decided to make the shape so narrow on top as compared to the other ones of their jackets I own (including several summer jackets). Overall the coat looks well made but once I tried it on it's just bulky and ill fitting and the hood is just wrong. Disappointed. Returned.
